we found a bunch of this vintage ribbon which was manufactured for newberrys 'five and dime' stores. these were intended and sold for use at christmas time. the bright colors and graphics on the cardboard spools tell that these are from the 1960s. what a wild and colorful time! christmas with these 'groovy' colors surely never made its way to our house!
this ribbon is in a deep turquoise blue. fabric-backed (most likely acetate) velvet ribbon is 3/4 of an inch wide. there is over 12 feet of ribbon.
the ribbon was affixed to the spool with a staple, so there are occasional holes which will likely disappear when the ribbon is tied. |
